Karen Day 10
Our dear friends in Riverside, CA drove up today to pick us up in Turlock. We haven’t seen them in 3 years and it was so exciting when they drove up, all I could do was laugh! Praise God for special friends like Scott & Kristy that the passing of time does not take away the true love that is there.
On the way back to their home in Southern Cal. We had a wonderful time of catching up on our families and encouraging one another in the things that God is calling us to do.
We stopped along the way at a church in Glendora to enjoy a choir concert by the Cal Baptist University Womens Choir. Scott & Kristy’s daughter Holly, sings in it and we were totally blessed by the music. I think that the words to the songs were even more meaningful after having been walking in the presence of Almighty God. It was so powerful and moving that Gaylon and I cried through at least half of the concert. So beautiful, they sounded like angels.
My love and prayers to you all,
Karen

Karen Day 9
Spent most of the morning at Jack in the Box in  Turlock at Hwy 99 reading God’s Word and seeking Him, charging our cell phone and computer (no internet access though).
We have no direction yet to get up and walk, so we wait and pray, because that’s what this journey is all about-not our plans but His will for the day. In my mind it makes no sense to sit and wait but in my spirit there is a peace that goes beyond any understanding. He says “am I enough?” My answer to Him is, Lord, You created the heavens and the earth, You are in everything I see. There is nowhere that You are not there. You are Lord of all and I choose You. I choose life and love and all You have for me. Yes! Yes! Yes! You are infinity beyond more than enough! God, my provider, my shelter, my comfort, my peace, my joy, the glory and the lifter of my head, my strength, my hope for the future, my Savior, my friend, my counselor and healer. I choose You!
I am being transformed into God’s creature by the renewing of my mind, being conformed into the image of my Savior and Friend Jesus. As I peel away the ugliness of self, I am finding that I am nothing in myself but I am everything in Him. A new creation.
Praise God! Hallelujah! Amen!
On this amazing journey that we are on, I find that He is changing me, refining me, molding me so that I can do His work. He has called us to be a light to the world, but how can we be a light to the world when we don’t make time for the one True Light? We are like our cell phones, if we don’t charge up our battery, we have no power! I want to walk in His power, being His hands, His feet, His voice.
Walking into the voice of God! Jesus said, “He who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. John 14:12
We talked to some homeless people today and shared some of our pretzels and trail mix. Stephanie was a woman who had lost everything because of drugs. With the help of our precious Savior, she has been off drugs for 1 year. She was so cute and excited to share what the Lord has done for her and it was evident that He was living in her. The three guys were a bit messed up but it was a joy to love on them.
My love and prayers for you all,
Karen

Karen Day 8
Ron showed up at the house this morning with bananas and maps of central California. I had just been getting something ready for breakfast as we were packing up our stuff when I thought it would be nice to eat our bananas with breakfast, but then I remembered that we ate them yesterday. What a blessing when Ron showed up with bananas. That was just another one of the many kisses from God we’ve received since we started this journey. It was also one of the best bananas I’ve had!
God’s provision tastes better than what we work so hard to provide for ourselves.
After asking God about our direction, we felt led to go another way. We headed towards Turlock and within a short time a man and his Mother stopped to give us a ride. She was here visiting from Pennsylvania and was so proud of her son that he would stop and go out of his way to give us a lift. Praise God for our 15 mile ride into Turlock.
My prayer is that as you read my posts, that you will see the greatness of God in the small things and that it would build your faith for believing Him daily. He says, seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you. I know He has my attention!
We spent the night in Turlock under the stars thanking Papa (our heavenly Father) and Jesus (our brother and Savior) for another day to live and breathe and to be a light to the world.
My love and prayers to you all.

Karen Day 7
Wow! Has it already been 1 week? Time has flown by and it seems like we just left, but we are really missing our girls and family and friends.
Today we are at the Blues Café in Patterson, CA learning how to post our blog. We have not had a place to do it until today. Sorry to keep you all wondering where we were. I’ve been writing as we go but haven’t had internet access till today.
This morning we ate at a diner for breakfast and there was a couple there and the man couldn’t sit to eat because he was in so much pain. They got up to leave the same time we were done and Gaylon asked if we could pray for him. They were Christians also and we talked and encouraged each other in the parking lot for about 20 minutes. We also prayed for his wife because she just had shoulder surgery. I thank God that we had that moment to pray for them and believe that His healing touch would set them free.
We met a man at the Blues Café who said that he had a vacant house out side of town that we could stay at for the night. It was a beautiful home and it even had electricity. Praise God! We slept warm and cozy thanking God for His amazing provision. Ron was loosing this house in a few days-his business had dried up and here he was, being a blessing and thinking of someone else’s needs. Now that’s powerful!
God’s grace-its amazing!
My love and prayers to you all,
Karen

Karen’s Day 6

Posted in Disciples Journey, Into the voice of Yahuah, Our Adventure with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 22, 2009 by Gaylon Ratliff

I woke up this morning with thoughts of “walking” into the voice of God. Hearing His voice and being led by Him. Praise God, that’s where I want to be. In His perfect will.

As we were walking out in the middle of country, a lady driving the opposite way stopped in the middle of the road and asked if I wanted some coffee. I said “sure”, and she handed me her cup of coffee and said I needed some coffee to warm me up. We thanked her and prayed God’s blessing over her as she drove away. Not only hot and comforting, but it was exactly the way I like it (vanilla cream & sweet). How awesome is that! It was a precious kiss from God.

A few hours later on that same country road, these two ladies stopped and asked us if we were on some sort of quest. We shared that we were on a disciples journey. She held out her hand and placed $6 in our hands and said “God wanted us to have it”. Praise God! A little while later, out in the middle of nowhere we came across “Jimmie’s Place” where we used the blessing God just had given us and had some lunch and charged our cell phone. Sitting at the bar were several farmer boys who were very interested in what we were up to. God provides ways for us to talk about Him and minister His life and love to total strangers. It’s so much fun! We walked for a while longer when Jose and Manuel stopped to give us a ride into Patterson which was about 13-14 miles further. Gaylon had just prayed about 5 min. before they stopped to pick us up. He was just telling God that he was getting tired but would keep going if He wanted us to. Praise God!

We ended up at Mc Donalds for some dinner and to see if they had internet service (which they didn’t). We had some dinner and met Johnathan and Brian who were training to be pastors at the Assemplies of God. They loved doing street ministry and were such a blessing to us to talk to.  We gave them some Speakables and blessed them on their way out.

From there, we walked to the Pentacostal Church. The service was great and the people there were so welcoming and loving. We camped out in the yard at the church and got some much need rest. God’s provision is so off the chart compared to what we try to figure out. All in all, we walked about 20 miles for the day. It was a great day!

“Walking” into the voice of God!

“I’ll be talking about that!

My love and prayers to all

My precious Poppy  (Dad) is having surgery today and I spent most of the day praying for him. We were in Mantecca, CA and got a flat tire on our trailer. So we spent time taking care of that and cruised around Mantecca before heading to Costco. After a very long day  we chose a place at the back corner of a park to camp out. We set up our tent and went to bed. After sleeping for about an hour we were awakened by the giant sprinklers blasting our tent. Gaylon was the amazing “water warrior” running barefoot from sprinkler to sprinkler trying to redirect the water away from me and our tent. He was my hero and came back in the tent soaking wet. Needless to say, we seemed to have missed God’s provision for us by choosing what we thought was an O K plan at the time when we were very tired. We packed up our wet stuff and decided that we better find out where God wanted us and headed south out of town. We found a place out in the country under some trees and spent the night on our tarp. We were cold but snuggled up and got some rest. As I was falling asleep, I prayed that we would “walk” into the voice of God.

After spending our mourning in prayer and the Word, we cleaned up Steve’s house and felt like it was time to hit the road. We praise God for Cousin Steve’s hospitality. Thank you Steve!

We had wanted to head over to Palo Alto to visit my Dad after his knee surgery but didn’t think we could make it that far in time, so we headed towards Southern California. I really believe this will be a time of refining and refreshing-Praise God.

We fellowshipped at Chet and Melba’s church this morning. We met Pastor James just before the service and Melba introduced us as missionaries on a disciples journey. James asked us briefly about it right before the service started. After a time of worship (which was great, by the way) Pastor James came over to us and asked if he could pray for us. He laid hands on us and totally blessed us.

We went to the country club for lunch with Chet and Melba and met up with Chet’s brother and his wife Wanda. Bill is quite a man of faith and he told about how God had given him a heavenly recipe for his almond carmel corn and how that business got started. It continues to amaze me the people God brings to us that tell us story after story about the blessings of God.

My love and prayers for you all!

We had a great day of rest. Our time with Uncle Chet & Aunt Melba was a tremendous blessing to Gaylon. It was great to hear about the heritage of faith that Pop (Gaylon’s grandpa) lived. God is so good the way He leads us to places that build our faith. He uses peoples lives and the way they walked in faith to give us stories that can be passed from generation to generation.

What a blessing!

My love and prayers to all.

Day 1 on our disciples journey was amazing. Our friends Ed & Patricia who Pastor a Penticostal Church in Paradise were going to Oakdale, Ca. and offered to give us a ride to our first destination, which was also Oakdale. . We had a wonderful drive and great time of fellowship. They were so encouraging with their testimonies of God working in their life and how He has brought them through. I never tire of peoples stories of the greatness and nearness of God.
When we arrived in Oakdale, we dropped off our trailer and stuff at Cousin Steve’s house and then Ed & Patricia treated us to a great  “cowboy steak sandwich” for lunch. We so much enjoyed their generosity towards us.
We said our good-byes after lunch and started our first “walk” into God’s greatness. I can’t really describe how truly wonderful that moment was other than wanting to laugh and cry (a good sort of cry) all at the same time.
We walked to Aunt Melba and Uncle Chet’s house and spent a few hours loving on them. It was so great to spend time with them and both Gaylon and I came away blessed with a sense of doing exactly what God called us to do. Aunt Melba gave us a ride back to Cousin Steve’s house. From there we felt like we were supposed to walk to town- so we headed towards the town square and sat on a bench in front of the “Cowboy Museum” and prayed and sang and worshipped the Lord.
Cousin Steve then called us on his way into town and picked us up and took us back to his house where we had a great time catching up on things with him (like, now he is a calf-roping cowboy). He truly is an amazing guy and whatever he is doing, he gives it his all. We had dinner with Steve and his girlfriend Annette, who is adorable and a “sister in the Lord”. We had a really nice evening with them and God really encouraged Annette through us.
Praise God for the first of many days on our journey, we are blessed beyond measure!

UNFULFILLED?

Posted in Is There a Purpose? on June 26, 2009 by crazychristcraver

To start off, let’s take a look at a great example of the emptiness that we are left with when following the ways of this world. Ecclesiastes was written by King Solomon who may have been the wisest man this world has ever seen, and because of his wisdom he became probably the most wealthy. With all of his wisdom, wealth, and accomplishment he still lived a life that was unfulfilled. See if you can identify with the vanity that he speaks of? Can you see the American dream that is driven by consumerism and the schemes of the “wise” that steal your life?

Ecclesiastes 1:1 – 2:11

1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. 2 Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. 3 What profit has a man of all his labor which he takes under the sun? 4 One generation passes away, and another generation comes: but the earth abides forever. 5 The sun also rises, and the sun goes down, and hastens to his place where he arose. 6 The wind goes toward the south, and turns about unto the north; it whirls about continually, and the wind returns again according to his circuits. 7 All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, to that place they return again. 8 All things are full of labor; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. 9 The thing that has been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. 10 Is there anything whereof it may be said, See, this is new? It has been already of old time, which was before us. 11 There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after. 12 I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13 And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail has God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith. 14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit. 15 That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is lacking cannot be numbered. 16 I communed with mine own heart, saying, Behold, I am come to great estate, and have got more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yes, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge. 17 And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit. 18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increases knowledge increases sorrow.

2 I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove you with delight, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity. 2 I said of laughter, It is mad: and of delight, What does it? 3 I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life. 4 I made me great works; I built me houses; I planted me vineyards: 5 I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits: 6 I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that brings forth trees: 7 I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me: 8 I gathered me also silver and gold, and the exclusive treasure of kings and of the provinces: I got me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts. 9 So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me. 10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labor: and this was my portion of all my labor. 11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labor that I had labored to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.

Here is what the wisest of men has to say at the end of his life after having searched everywhere and everything for purpose and pleasure and fulfillment.

Ecclesiastes 12:8-14

8 Vanity of vanities, says the preacher; all is vanity. 9 And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yes, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. 10 The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth. 11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd. 12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Solomon found that self-gain, self-improvement, the self and all works of the flesh are vanity, having no lasting reward and will ultimately leave us feeling helpless and hopeless. God judges all things according to His will, His purpose, His Word, and it is these things that have reward in this life and in the one to come. Solomon talks about vanity or the foolishness of a life lived according to the wisdom of the world. Our lives are full of chasing the wind. Apart from God, this life sucks and is totally vain. We run in circles trying to gain happiness and peace and a sense of accomplishment. So much of our life is wasted on the simple provision of food, drink, clothing, and shelter leaving us little time for God and what we were truly created for.

Yahushua taught that this was foolishness. He said that when we seek Him and His kingdom reign and His righteousness the things that we have need of would be provided by Him. The problem is that we don’t trust Him. We trust in what we can see; we trust in what we can do. We don’t believe that God is who he says He is, or that He will do the things that He said He would do. If we do come to the point of believing that He is and that He will do the things He says, we expect Him to start doing those things while we are still trusting in ourselves. This is not faith. If it is by grace that we are saved through faith, and this is how we are living we may be in for a huge surprise at the end of our life on this earth. If this statement challenges you, it’s probably a good time to press deeper into your relationship with God to know what He has to say and who He really is.

I Need More of YOU!

Make this your daily prayer for you and those around you.

Ephesians 1:17-23 (modified)

YHWH,  God of our Lord Yahushua the Anointed, the Father of glory, give unto me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you: that the eyes of my  understanding would be enlightened; that I may know what is the hope of your calling, and the riches of the glory of your inheritance in me, and what is the exceeding greatness of your power toward me who believes, according to the working of your mighty power, which you wrought in the Anointed One, when you raised him from the dead, and set him at your own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: and you have put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church and to me, which are his body, the fullness of him that fills all in all.

Ephesians 3:14-21 (modified)

I bow my knees unto you O Father of our Lord Yahushua the Anointed, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, grant me, according to the riches of your glory, to be strengthened with might by your Spirit in my inner man; that the Anointed One may dwell in my heart by faith; that I, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of the Anointed One, which passes knowledge, that I might be filled with all the fullness of YHWH. Now unto you that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that I ask or think, according to the power that works in me, unto you be glory in the church by the Anointed Yahushua throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Does Your Life Really Suck?

Posted in Is There a Purpose? with tags , , , , , , , , , , on June 26, 2009 by crazychristcraver

Do you feel like there’s got to be more than what you are living? Do you feel unfulfilled? If you don’t feel this way, is it because you have it all figured out or do you just not think about it? I have not personally met anyone that was truly fulfilled. There’s always something more that we want: a bigger house, a nicer car, a better relationship, a better job, more money, more knowledge, more, more, more,  or we wish that they could be or have done something different (regret). Why is that? Have you ever asked yourself this question? Have you ever blamed someone else for making your life the way that it is? Have you ever blamed God? Is there even a God? If God is real, what the heck does He want with me anyway? I believe in Jesus, shouldn’t that make my life better than someone else that doesn’t? Oh, I know the answer to that question, Jesus came that so when I die I can go to heaven and right now I’m just suffering for Him. What a load of crap!

We have been fed lie after lie to the point of not knowing what truth is. For many, there is not even a standard truth, but only what they perceive as truth as it relates to them. Most of us have double standards: one for us and one for everybody else. Why is it that almost none of us can come to agree on any one thing? The answer is simple: Satan, the adversary, has used deception to raise himself as god, and very successfully has he hindered man from living according to his designed purpose. Yes, there is a very real enemy that comes to steal, kill, and destroy. We are so incredibly deceived!

It is not my goal or even my responsibility to prove that God or Satan is real. If you are looking for me to prove something to you, you are looking to the wrong person. My purpose is to simply shine the light of the Gospel, the Word, the Truth, into the darkness of this world and expose the lies that bind us from ever truly knowing God and living according to His exceedingly great promises of eternal life.

In future posts on this blog we will walk through many of the toughest ideas to grasp due to the indoctrinated state of our fallen mind that is full of the wisdom of this world. We will see how Adam fell, what he fell from, and the fallen state that man has walked in ever since. We will explore why Adam fell, the Tempter, and the deceptions through which the enemy has total access to our lives.  We will see how man was redeemed and the restored relationship of God and man. We will find out authority and power Satan has versus the authority and power that the believer has. And finally, much of our time will be spent exploring the depths of the fulfilled life that has been promised for us to walk in while on this earth.

Do not take one word of this blog as the Truth, but may it drive you to Him who is the Truth, the Way, and the Life, Yahushua the Anointed One (Jesus Christ). May the Holy Spirit grant you wisdom and understanding by revealing the Truth through intimate relationship. Grace and peace be multiplied to you through knowing Him.

The Name of the Son

Posted in The Names Revealed with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 25, 2009 by crazychristcraver

For a better understanding of the pronunciation of the name of the Son, it would be a good idea to read The Name of the Father if you have not already done so.

The English names Jesus and Joshua are the same name in Hebrew (Strong’s H3091).  The name comes from two words: YHWH (H3068) and yasha’ (H3467 to save), that combine to form the name YAHUSHUA which means YHWH is salvation.  Instead of the name Jesus, a translation of a translation, we want to honor His true Hebrew name, Yahushua.

Christ (G5547) was not his last name as some my think today, but is the Greek translation of the Hebrew word Mashiyach (H4899 in English Messiah) and is defined as anointed one.  As with Lord or God, Christ and Messiah or only titles that refer to the manifested power of the Holy Spirit through the promised savior.

Further support for using the names: Hsa 2:16-17, Jer 12:16-17, Deut 32:2-3, and many others.

The Name of the Father

Posted in The Names Revealed with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 25, 2009 by crazychristcraver

The Bible tells us to call on the name of the LORD (Joel 2:32, Acts 2:21).  God swears by His own name (Jer 22:5).  In Exodus 6:3, God shows us that he was known to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob by the title God Almighty, but then later revealed Himself to Moses as the LORD God.  God said to Moses in Exodus 3:15, “Say this to the people, ‘The LORD… this is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.’”

God (Hebrew Elohim) and Lord (Hebrew ‘Adown, Adonay, or Baal) are simply titles, but Lord or God in all caps, as seen in most versions of the bible, stand in for God’s actual name.  So what then is His name?  Some say Jehovah, some say Yahweh. We would like to take a deeper look at the name that He has chosen and given to us by which He would be known.  The name that He gave to Moses is recorded in Exodus 3:15 in the original Hebrew as הוהי (sorry, for whatever reason the computer switched this around, it should be written the other way), when transliterated into English and written left to right is YHWH (Strong’s H3068).  Notice it has no vowels which is how we end up with different pronunciations.  It would seem unable to be pronounced without adding vowel sounds.  However in the Paleo-Hebrew in which it was recorded the letters made both vowel and consonant sounds.  Y = ee, H = ah, and W = oo.  Therefore the pronunciation of the consonant and vowel sounds in the name YHWH would be: eeYaHooWaH, or YAHUWAH.

This name, that the God of heaven and earth gave by which He should be remembered by throughout all generations, is replaced with the more common LORD or GOD in most modern translations.  for all threeC publications we have chosen to honor that name and publish it as it occurs, leaving it in its simplest English transliteration: YHWH (to be pronounced YaHuWaH).  This is an holy name, and should be reverenced accordingly (third commandment).

Further support for using the names: Hsa 2:16-17Jer 12:16-17Deut 32:2-3, and many others.
